A STUDY IN WOOD AND STEEL
Private Client
Seocho-gu, Seoul

Project Details:
Apartmentary transformed this approximately 2,491 sq ft residence, originally completed in 2006, into a warm yet sharply composed home defined by deep wood tones, stainless steel, and sculptural detailing.
The renovation reworked the living room, kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, and entry. Rich wood cabinetry and built-ins create warmth and continuity, while stainless steel, marble-patterned surfaces, and carefully framed transitions introduce a more architectural edge.

Project Overview

Warm wood. Polished metal. A more composed way of living.
The home was designed around contrast: soft, tactile wood surfaces set against cooler stainless steel and stone.
In the kitchen, dark wood cabinetry creates a refined, lounge-like atmosphere, while the stainless-steel island brings clarity and visual focus. Built-in storage was carefully integrated throughout the home to keep the overall composition calm and uncluttered.
Design Approach

Structured by contrast, softened by detail.
The kitchen became the visual center of the project, combining deep wood tones with stainless steel for a more tailored, contemporary expression.
At the entry, a wood slatted sliding door gently separates the foyer from the main living space, while custom cabinetry throughout the residence adds function without interrupting the architectural flow.
Details

Distinct moments, connected by one material language.
Each bathroom was given its own character. One is defined by green mosaic tile, a freestanding tub, and matte fixtures, while the other uses marble-patterned surfaces to create a quieter, more private atmosphere.
In the bedroom, a custom dressing room and layered storage were designed to maximize function while maintaining the same restrained, material-driven aesthetic throughout the home.
