Project Overview
A 40-year-old home, reimagined with lightness and warmth.
The design began by preserving the sense of familiarity that comes with an older home while giving it a cleaner, more contemporary rhythm.
Natural wood flooring brings warmth throughout, while oak-toned kitchen cabinetry extends the material language vertically. In the living room, a long built-in display shelf creates room for books and personal objects, allowing the space to feel both curated and lived-in.
Design Approach
Minimal in form, warm in character.
Rather than relying on decorative elements, the project uses proportion, texture, and subtle architectural gestures to create atmosphere.
The kitchen is organized around a central island, with oak cabinetry creating a natural transition from the living area. Matte surfaces keep the overall expression soft, while selected moments of color and pattern add depth without disrupting the calmness of the space.
Details
A French sensibility, without the formality.
Wainscoted doors, patterned tiles, and carefully selected lighting introduce a restrained French-modern character throughout the home.
The bathrooms were each given a distinct mood while following the same quiet material language. Together, these details give new life to a nearly 40-year-old residence while preserving a sense of warmth and familiarity.
